Bacteriostatic Water

Using an alcohol pad, wipe the rubber stopper on the empty mixing vial, the HCG medication vial, and the Bacteriostatic Water Vial. Check to be sure the expiration dates are still good on the HCG and the Bacteriostatic Water.

Pull back the plunger on the mixing syringe until the volume of air drawn into the mixing syringe equals the volume of water to be withdrawn from the Bacteriostatic Water vial.

Insert the mixing needle into the top of the Bacteriostatic Water vial. Inject all of the air from the mixing syringe into the Bacteriostatic Water vial. This step adds air inside the Bacteriostatic Water vial, preventing the creation of a vacuum upon withdrawal of the Bacteriostatic Water. Withdraw the mixing needle from the Bacteriostatic Water vial.

Next, with the empting mixing vial,  insert the mixing needle and withdraw the amount of air equal to the amount of Bacteriostatic Water you intend to inject into the empty mixing vial. It should be the same amount of air as used in the previous step. Withdraw the mixing needle from the empty mixing vial. Now both vials are pressurized and prepared to exchange the liquids much more easily.

Using the mixing syringe, insert the mixing needle into the Bacteriostatic Water vial and withdraw the intended volume of Bacteriostatic Water. Withdraw the mixing needle.

Insert the mixing needle into the HCG medication vial. Inject a small amount of Bacteriostatic Water to reconstitute the powdered form of the HCG. It doesn’t matter exactly how much Bacteriostatic Water that you inject here – 0.5 ml is fine. The powder should dissolve immediately.

Invert the HCG medication vial and withdraw every bit of the liquid back into the syringe. Make sure the tip of the needle is almost even with the inside of the rubber stopper, so that you get all of the medication back into the syringe. Withdraw the mixing needle.

Insert the mixing needle into the empty mixing vial and inject all of the liquid into the empty mixing vial. Withdraw the mixing needle. Now your solution is mixed for injections.

Discard all waste and do not reuse the syringe and mixing needle. Bacteriostatic Water will remain good for 28 days after you have punctured the stopper of the bottle. We recommend discarding the Bacteriostatic Water and the mixed solution at that time.

Each time you do an injection make sure to clean the top of the mixing vial and the injection site with an alcohol pad. Use a new injection syringe each time you inject. Do not reuse needles or syringes.

Pull back the plunger on your injection syringe until the volume of air inside the injection syringe equals the volume of solution you intend to inject. Insert the injection needle into the mixing vial and inject all of the air into the mixing vial. Invert the mixing vial and withdraw the volume of solution that you intend to inject. Withdraw the injection needle from the mixing vial. Hold the injection needle pointing upward and tap on the syringe barrel until any and all air bubbles have risen to the top of the syringe barrell. Push on the plunger to expel all air from the syringe. Now you are ready to inject.

After the injection is completed, discard all waste in appropriate sharps container or waste receptacle.
